My SVAPA Portfolio 2019
I have 2 brothers and a Mum and Dad. I adore them very much and I love to spend time with them. I also have 2 best friends who I treat like family because, other than my parents, they mean the world to me.
My family have the funniest moments, sad moments and bad moments, but whatever happens, we are always there for one another other. My brothers are nice but annoying - you know hits and kicks here and there but no matter what, I still love them. My mum is the best at most things especially being my mum. By the way she is the best mum in the world and no mum could ever replace her. My Dad is awesome, he makes me a better person because he teaches me to look out for others, and always doing the right thing. His favourite saying is to do what is right even when no one is looking.
I help my family every step of the way and my Mum and Dad are always there for me. They support my dreams and help me be the best I can be - even if that means driving me around, taking me to rehearsals and anywhere else I need to be. They have given me the drive to follow my dreams and encourage me to work hard.
(And they always have front row seats to my performances!!)
One of things I really enjoy doing with my family is helping put together Care Bags for a local charity that helps children who are taken from their parents and have to go into foster care. I can not imagine what that must feel like and I feel very sad for the kids that happens to. Putting together Care Bags is a very small way of helping those kids to not feel like they are all alone in the world. We put together a backpack full of clothes, toys, pyjamas, toothbrush, hairbrush etc so the kids have something that belongs to them and can help them with a little smile at a very sad time.
I've been learning the trumpet for almost 2 years through my primary school. I feel lucky to have been chosen to play the trumpet as I seem to have the right mouth for it! I didn't know that the trumpet helps develop your lungs so as my passion is for singing, that works out well!
I have been learning to sing properly for almost 3 years and I love every second of it. Learning an instrument - or any type of skill really - takes a lot of time and effort. Practise, practise and more practise. I really enjoy my lessons and am really keen to learn new things all the time.
I am very dedicated to learning and spend a lot of my time rehearsing and having lessons. I wouldn't change a thing! Sometimes it can be hard to juggle all the things I have to do - like homework and rehearsals and practising my songs, learning lyrics, the list goes on!! But I always try to keep a positive attitude and think to myself "YOU CAN DO THIS, MISCHA!". My Mum & Dad help me so much by encouraging me and making sure I find time to eat and sleep :)
I think it was meant to be that my destiny was in music. My dream is to be a professional singer one day. And I will work hard to make that dream come true!
My family has a long history in the arts and I am super excited to be a part of that. Getting into the SVAPA program at Mt Lawley SHS will be a MASSIVE step in that direction.
Let's start with my grandparents ...
My Grandpa Jim, my Dad's Dad, was in broadcasting and also trained as an actor in Manchester, England, where he was born. My Grandpa Jim received an MBE for his services to British broadcasting during the war and we have his medals hanging in our study. It reminds me that anything is possible!
My Dad studied acting at College in London before he immigrated to Australia where he met m Mum.
My Mum and Dad met performing in amateur musical theatre shows when they were very young.
My Mum was a University Registrar for many years but stopped working to look after my Grandad when he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. I loved my Grandad and miss him very much as he developed my love of music as we used to listen to all kinds of music together.
My Mum has a love of graphic design and teaches me how to use programs on the computer to design invitations, PowerPoint presentations, and lots of other types of media.
Of my five cousins, three of them are trained singers and music teachers. One of my cousins just graduated from WAAPA in Music and is now over in the UK working and studying for another degree.
I am excited to follow in their footsteps and continue with my love of everything arty!
